Rumspringa is the time in the lives of Amish teenagers when they’re allowed to experience the life of Englishers [the outside world of the Amish] for a period of time. They’re allowed to do anything and everything their hearts desire to experience; smoking, drinking, travelling on modern conveniences, and anything else they’re forbidden by the Amish religion to do.Upon their return they’re required to decide how they’d like to live the rest of their lives; the Amish life or that of the Englishers. Apparently when Abraham returns from his Rumsspringa sojourn he’s still enthralled by what he had experienced during his time away from Faith’s Creek, and yet still wants to return to the life he has already experienced there. Since his return, Abraham’s actions has created a lot of commotion by telling everyone what he did on the outside; which forces the community’s bishop to assign someone to counsel him back into their society.
On the first day when Hannah, the sister of his mentor Mark makes him lunch, Abraham questions why she’s doing it and wonders whether she’s being forced into doing it. Having been away, it seems he has forgotten that’s what Amish women are supposed to do for the men who are working hard in the fields.
In reading this story I could help but recall the chorus from the song "How You Gonna Keep 'Em Down On The Farm":

While Hannah feels quite happy in Amish lifestyle and is empowered by her Amish faith, who will win the other over to their side. Will Hannah get Abraham to come back into the Amish fold, or will he be able to get her to think out of the box and wonder about the choices she has to make in front of her? I’m not saying. But for having given her readers a story which deals with the commitment to one’s faith, this endeavor by Ms. Miller is getting 5 STARS from this reviewer.

The book was very well written with a lot of suspense. It kept your attention so you wanted to continue reading.
I have a new grandson in-law who, though a committed follower of Jesus is, in my opinion, also a hardcore feminist. I wish he would read this book.
I chose to give it 5stars. I like the book because it keeps your attention from start to end. Hannah is the best thing to come into his life. It just takes him sometime before he sees it.Both parents decide to set them up for marriage. Business picks up now!!!I'm not going to tell you any more just read!!!!
I have read several of Sarah Miller's books and enjoyed them all. Everyone old and young at times have questions about freedom of choice. This book is about the freedom of choice and the choice to follow God. A lot of people struggle just like the young man in the story, but he was one of the lucky ones as he had the upbringing that eventually awoke the truth in him. Read and enjoy this inspirational novella.
Enjoyed this book, enjoyed the characters and the insight into Amish ways. Always wondered about the "arranged" marriages. Good to see how it can work out.
Abraham has come home from Rumspringa but has lots of questions. He didn't like the hustle and business if the Englisher world, but he feels like the Amish way is too confining. He doesn't think they are allowed choices.
The Bishop has asked him to follow Mark around and to ask him any questions he might have. Mark has asked him to do the same with Hannah, Mark's sister.
This is an interesting story about the fact that just because they return home, they don't have many questions about their way of life. Some just accept it quicker than others.
I enjoyed reading this story and think others will too.
Amish Romance Hannah's Choice by Sarah Miller is a five start book and it could even use more than five stars.
It is so sad I feel that when a person makes a review they do not in their review ask others to share what they really feel about a book or ask others to send a message to the author letting them know that they loved the time and effort that was put into the story. They at least do say what they think about the book.
This story really can hit home about a person really looks at life and the way that they want to live theirs. It never hurts to ask questions since about everything.
This story really gives you information that when one of them leave to check out what is in the outside world and what is going to be waiting for them when they come back. Like the story says believe and always trust in God.
