"AUTHOR SUMMER LANE OF REEDLEY IS GIVING THE WORD 'PROLIFIC' A RUN FOR ITS MONEY." - Reedley Exponent
The apocalypse took everything from Elle her family, her world and now...her friends. After escaping the ravaged streets of Los Angeles, Elle finds herself stranded alone in California when her friends are kidnapped by a new and dangerous enemy. Determined to rescue them from a horrible fate, Elle begins her trek across the unforgiving desert, into the mountains, and into Slaver Territory.
All is not what it seems. Death lurks around every corner. Enemies are everywhere.
With the help of a new and brave companion, Elle fights against all odds, clinging to hope and life.
Day Zero is behind her. Day One is before her.
The end of the world is just beginning.

The further adventures of Elle, in the apocalypse. This is the second book, and in this one Elle is trying to find the friends she met in book one. They were captured and she tracks them through the Mojave.
Elle has some excellent survival skills, which is interesting, considering her privileged background.
The story could use some better proofreading, and I don't much care for the flashback method of telling the backstory, but it's fairly entertaining.
Results: an interesting post apocalyptic story, kind of short, and there's another 'book' you'll have to pay for if you want to read more.

Day One The Zero Trilogy Book 2 edition by Summer Lane Children eBooks Reviews
More of a teenage story. Drags on and is really slow. It's NOT an end times book but a supergirl/i win at everything book. Not reading the rest of the series. Skimmed thru this one...waste of 99 cents!
Enjoyed the story looking forward to the third installment. The only complaints I have is that all three installments really are just one book separated into novellas. And the Author's understanding of the Science of EMP's is inaccurate. But most dystopian (sp?) stories get the science wrong. So that is not really a big deal.
My only wish..... that they had made Elle older. I can see here doing the things she does at a older person, I'm only saying a few years older ( not talking about making her in her 30's , just maybe18- 20 .( I'm not saying much a because I don't wanna give anything a away.)
Basically a continuation of book one. Elle manages to walk through the bad things with not a lot of effort. The book is OK but pretty much typical of just about all the other doomsday books on the market. It is worth reading, since it gives a little more information to one of the characters in the main "State of" series. I suggest you read my review of Day Zero to get a feel for this book.
After reading the first book I was excited to read this one. It did not fail to becoming the best apocalypse story I have read in ages! Exceptionally well written, very strong character and close to something that, when all is said and done, could actually become reality. Can't wait to read the last book! I urge anyone who loves this genre to read this series, you won't be disappointed!!!! I'd love to see it made into a movie, that would be epic!
I must say I was disappointed with this book and series. I am a huge fan of the Collapse series by Summer Lane, and had really high hopes for this set, but was extremely let down. The editing and typos are really difficult to overcome. The story line was jumpy, and slow paced. I did enjoy diving into another character that comes into play in the Collapse series, but I am not impressed with the book overall.
I have thoroughly enjoyed learning of the world after the EMP through the eyes of Elle. Because not much of her back story was given in The Collapse Series, I had a difficult time deciding whether or not I could trust her. The Zero Trilogy gives you all the insight you need as to why she's the way she is. Her and Cassidy are very much alike and I've enjoyed learning about those similarities.
Now...what am I going to do waiting for the next installments of each series??.
