Autumn's Escape works well as a stand alone book. Luke, Abby and Luke's Mother are all well developed characters. Luke and Abby work well together to remodel the house she inherited. This is a nice clean romance. I love how Abby's character developed in the story. A great way to spend the afternoon or evening.

Autumn Embrace Seasons of Love Book 3 edition by Laura D Bastian Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Autumn's Embrace #3 - Heartwarming and fun with plenty of hope fills this lovely story. This is my second book by this author and I like it better than Never Trust the Rain, which is a good story, too. Clean, well written and filled with likable characters, including a older house and a car named Lyle. The characters don't follow the stupid formula and can actually think instead of react while developing their romance throught the bumps caused by a home in CA and a home in MD. The story is fast paced and has humor along with an interesting romance in bloom between childhood friends. 5*

Never Trust the Rain - A well written, fast paced romance with a funny lady and wonderful man who find love in the rain. This heartwarming story leaves a smile on the reader even when the story ends. This is my second favorite story from the Destiny Europe series. Included is an overview, which I appreciate knowing the contents of a book. 5*
If I don’t care for a book, I usually do not write a review, but since I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book, here goes. This was the first book I have read by this author and, I have to admit, I was surprised when I checked after reading a few chapters to discover that this is not her first work, that she has written a number of novels before this one. I found the writing lacked the sophistication I would expect, and have experienced, from a seasoned writer. The writing is technically OK (grammar, etc.), but I did not find the writing style at all compelling. My favorite romance authors, both well known and not so much, always draw me in from the first chapters. A clean story does not mean the book should be dull. It is the use of language that intrigues me, how it paints a picture that makes me want to know more about the characters and their stories. By the end of this book, I did not really care one way or the other whether Abby and Luke had their HEA. In fact, if I had not accepted the ARC, I might not have even finished the book. The storyline was fine, but I found the pace very pedestrian. There was too much “telling” of the story, rather than “showing”; the latter, a technique that would have made this story far more engaging and enjoyable. The characters were likable enough, but pretty two dimensional. I did not feel I knew any more about what made them tick by at the end of the book than I did when I started. Again, something that would have emerged if we were shown in the dialogue, actions, and thoughts. In a well written, compelling book, I sometimes may not like a character, but at least I feel the character has been developed well enough that I can make that judgment. Romance novels are often criticized as being shallow and that is valid when the story is superficial. The best romance writers, both contemporary and those from another time period, take us on a journey that makes us think about the story and issues that might have been raised even after we have finished reading. It is my personal definition of a good book. I read romance for pleasure and as an escape, but that does not mean I do not appreciate, and expect, the same quality of writing as in what might be considered a more literary genre.
It is quick and easy to get into and a good story. I have read all the other books in this series all are wonderful
This was a good book! Laura is a new writer and i am going to enjoy reading more from her.
Good but not great. A little disappointing after the last two books but still ok. The writing didn't seem to flow as easily as in the other books but the editing was excellent. It was ok to read and it wasn't boring..
Abby had no intention of moving to the east coast. She was just here to take care of her aunt’s house and sell it. She ran into her childhood tormentor, all grown up, who is a real estate agent. As he talked with her about changes that would make the home more sale able, Abby’s ideas grew. He offered his help and experience. As they worked together, their friendship grew and deepened. These are the kind of stories I like where the characters become friends, work together - not just play - and build a relationship that is real. It definitely is a conundrum as to how to make such a relationship work over such a distance, or even if they want to. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the characters and seeing them remodel her house caused me to want to do some remodeling of my own ) !
This was a sweet romance. It took me a while to get into the book, but it was filled with sweetness and tenderness. I enjoyed how Luke and Abby got to know one another during their home improvement projects. Luke was a loyal man with integrity and just wanted what was best for those around him. Abby had a lot going for her. She grew in her character in the book while she learned what made her truly happy. Together they had some chemistry that was was a gentle brewing. I felt like the story dragged at times, but overall an enjoyable read. I would recommend to those that like romance that develops between friends.
